MAR GÓMEZ GLEZ – Writer

Mar Gómez Glez is a Spanish writer novelist and playwright, living in New York since 2006. Her work has received global recognition including the 2011 Calderón de la Barca Theater Award for her play Numbers, the 2008 Arte Joven Latina Award for her story “Que viene el lobo” and the 2007 Beckett Theater Award for her play Fuga mundi. She was playwright in residency in the Residencia de Estudiantes (Madrid, 2005-06) and in the International Residency of the Royal Court Theatre (London, 2009).

She is the author of the novel Cambio de sentido (2010), currently being translated into English with the support of PEN American center, the children’s book Acebedario (2006) and numerous other plays and short stories. She has participated in Festivals as: Teatro Vivo (NYC, 2008) or Teatro Stage Fest (NYC, 2010). Her last show, Wearing Lorca’s Bowtie, was playing at The Duke Theater, Off-Broadway, in December 2011.

JULIÁN MESRI – Director

Julián J. Mesri is a New York based Argentinean-American director, playwright and composer. His pieces are often fresh and funny philosophical laboratories that seek to explore contemporary problems by refracting them through a stylistic and musical lens where the audience is free to enter into a multi-faceted relationship with the work. He is proud to work with a company of actors encompassing both North and South America as well as directing and writing in both English and Spanish.

He is currently Van Lier fellow at Repertorio Español where he directed  Rafael Spregelburd’s “La estupidez” in its New York premiere (ACE nominee, Best Direction) and this year presented Calderón de la Barca’s “La dama duende”. Recent work includes: “The Homophobes” by Susana Cook, which will premiere in September as part of Dixon Place’s Mondo Cané commission series, as well as his play Blood and Cake, which premiered at The Tank theatre in December 2010 and February 2011, produced by Magic Futurebox. He participated as a director in the 2010 USA/Mexico Word-Exchange at the Lark, and has directed readings for Repertorio Español, Monarch Theatre, NYU and Teatro IATI. 

PEP MUÑOZ – Actor

Pep Muñoz received an acting degree from the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona in 2002 ,University of Barcelona and studied Commedia dell’Arte in Venice and Florence. Later, He joined several playwright workshops in Spain. He worked as an actor at Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, Teatre Lliure and in several other theaters in Barcelona, working with both young and well-known directors. Pep worked as a teacher at the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona as well as other schools and colleges. He founded his own theater company and in 2004 joined the cast of the TV series Ventdelpla. He began to work more in television.

In the summer of 2010 he decided to move to NYC to perfect his English and continue his career here. Now He is working in NYC with Repertorio Español, with his theater company The Fifth Wall and in many other projects with other companies and directors.

KELLY MCGRATH – Actor

Kelly McGrath has performed with The Second City National Touring Company, out of Chicago, and at their nightly comedy revue in Las Vegas.  In New York, she has been in T. Schreiber Studio‘s production of The Cherry Orchard and workshop for a new play, Alien Child.  Kelly has also improvised at The Magnet and The P.I.T and played in Gotham City Improv’s Midnights series.  She’s excited about her upcoming role of Autumn Willows in the web series Haiku Tales.

 

 

LAURA MADERA – Production / Marketing Manager

Laura Madera is an freelance arts manager who lives and works in NYC. She studied “Advertising and Public Relations” in the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain) and a “Culture Management” Degree in Luneburg University (Germany). She worked more than 10 years as Brand Manager in Spanish leader newspapers, as EL PAÍS and Expansión. She launched TV, Press, Online and Social Media Campaigns and managed the sponsorship of events as ARCO (Contemporary Art Fair) or Rock in Rio (Music Festival).

She is currently managing La MaMa Experimental Theater’s Social Media, as main job. She also collaborate with the Spanish Consulate, interviewing Spanish artist and working as the Production Manager in selected Festivals.

 

CARMEN SIMÓN RUBIO – Production 

Carmen has degree studies on Film and Communications as well as Piano and Composing. After she started her career on the field of news producing in Spain, in 2009, she decided to move to NYC to work on fiction projects. Since her arrival to the states she has produced short films, commercials, reality TV, music videos, theatre… Her vast interest in arts has lead her to get involved in lots of successful projects that have been shownin some of the most important festivals as Cannes Film Festival.

 

                                                                    FELI LAMENCA Set Designer

Feli Lamenca graduated as an architect from Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya. She worked in well-recognized firms in Barcelona collaborating with the design team and her work obtained some awards. She participated in international workshops and exhibitions as well as in Sweden, France and Scotland where she was selected for Archiprix, a biennial international competition for the best graduation projects in architecture.

In 2008 she moved to New York to gain more experience, at the beginning as an architect and later as a set designer. She collaborated with the art department for Independent movies and some plays for NYU. She is currently studying a Master’s degree in Design for Stage and Film at NYU Tisch.

 

MARIA CUARTERO – Stage Manager/Actress

Maria has always tried to amalgamate her two great passions: Psychiatry and Theater, jumping over and over again from the Lunatic Asylum where she worked as a psychiatrist to the stage.

She began to perform professionally at the age eighteen with the company “Nuevo Teatro de Aragon” and later with “Teatro Imaginario” and “La rueda Teatro”. She studied acting in Madrid at “La cuarta Pared” and in Buenos Aires. She did an intership with Augusto Boal at  the  “Theater of the oppressed ”  in Rio de Janeiro. Because of her roving nature, she decided to move to NYC three years ago. Since then, she is studying acting and playwrighting at “HB Studio”. Recent appearances in off Broadway shows include: Oh, Those Beautiful Weimar Girls (New Stage Theater Company), Mapping Möbius (New Stage Theater Company), Wearing Lorca´s bowtie (AENY).
